I'm not a fan of Greenpeace. I think they go too far. I'm all for saving the environment, and helping "mother earth", but I don't believe in bullying or terrorizing.

Recently, I was walking down the street with the wife, and a guy with a clipboard asked if "We wanted to help out Mother Earth?" The wife responded with, "Sorry, we don't want to sign a petition." He responded with "I don't have a petition I'm trying to sign up people for Greenpeace." Now I had been trying to avoid talking to this guy. I saw his clipboard, and as I stated I'm not a fan. As such, we both respond with how we dislike Greenpeace. This apparently was the wrong move. It sent the guy on the defensive.

He asked us what we didn't like, and then before we could answer. He answered for us, asking if we didn't like how they stop Japanese Whalers by getting in the way. Now I know this trick. If I say, I don't like it then I'm obviously for whaling. Well, sorry dude. I don't like whaling, but I don't believe in bullying. You want to change the law. Then work with the Japanese government. Take video of it and release it on the internet. Do something besides being a bully. So we avoided the mine by answering that we disliked their policies with IT companies. At which point he showed us a chinese landfill filled with electronic trash. Stating here we pay to not see it, but there (in China) they don't have a choice. Excuse me! I'm sorry, but I make informed choices daily. I try to support companies whose policies I believe in.

Thankfully, the light changed before I loss my temper.

That little interaction really just reinforced how much I hate Greenpeace. They're bullies, and I believe that everyone has rights. And some of those rights and opinions don't agree with mine. But I'm not gonna bully anyone. I guess it's too pacifist for them, but I'll make statements the way I know how. Buy the one thing that matters to companies and governments. By choosing where my dollar is spent.

Naturalization

Thats right. I've decided to get naturalized. I will now be a US Citizen.

Few things of note:
1. Prepare to have all rights that US Citizens have trampled while your vetted. Both during the Greencard process and the citizenship process.

2. It was easier to deal with homeland security for citizenship then it was to deal with the old INS dept for a green card.

3. No more test. Now they ask you a few questions during your interview.

In two weeks I'll be sworn in as a US Citizen. Let's see if I immediately get jury duty.

I've seen, heard, and read this particular homophobic myth.

"We must protect children from gay men."

Why?

Being a gay man doesn't mean your a child molester or attracted to children. Your attracted to men! Also, evidence (studies... see the American Psychological Association)

has determined that most child molesters are either straight identified or attracted to children.

Let's end the homophobia. Pass on this video.

Prop 8 Trial Tracker

The US Supreme court ended the transparency that is vital to the US Democracy. The Prop 8 trial was set to be rebroadcast on YouTube, but a last minute decision revised a earlier decision. I truly believe that this is an injustice. A case, such as this, an historical case (whether you are pro or con same sex marriage) should be available for public record. In the days of the Internet, our biggest public archive, we actively take steps backwards.

This is a second attempt at blogging.

There were half a dozen posts up here earlier, about how I met my wife. It seemed silly to rehash the past, even though I knew it would probably help some lone Indian Lesbian. Sorry girls, your on your own for now.

Lets, instead, focus on the present.

Currently, I am: 29. An Indian Lesbian. Married (one of 18k same sex couples in CA). Cancer survivor. Immigrant. Fully Employed. Not speaking to her parents. Supporting her in-laws. Mama to 3 cats.

The breakdown:
29. Not much to say on that particular item, since I couldn't really control conception or delivery.

Indian. Again not much to say, accept isn't it amazing how many Indians are now in Hollywood? I feel represented. I also, now live in the South Bay of CA. which is little Asia. Every Asian race is represented, accepted, and a new culture of western asian is created. I no longer stand out in a crowd. It's weird.

Lesbian. I grew up in a white neighborhood in CA. I've been a minority my entire life, but the moment I embraced my sexuality I felt even more alone. Now not only was I a minority, but I was scared that someone may not accept who I was. It's been a struggle. However, I'm happier, free-er, and more alive, then I've ever been. People now know me. They know what I'm about, my thoughts, my views, my feelings, etc... and all of it was because I accepted myself.

Married. One of 18k couples whose marriage is legally recognized by the State of CA. Forever, doomed to explain my marital status. Seeing the disbelief in the eyes of some, the indifference in others, and surprise in others. Sad and full of guilt for all my friends that can't marry. Happy that I got married. Mostly, I'm just filled with joy when I call my wife "wife". She's not my partner, she's my wife. There is no misunderstanding, no wondering if I should check "single" on a doctor's form. It's simple and true. She is my wife, and I love her.

Cancer survivor. Not much to say, except I'm starting to believe it.

Immigrant. Born in the UK. Immigrated to the US at the age of 5. In the process of becoming a citizen.

Employed. As a technical writer/trainer at a tech company.

Not talking to the parents. See lesbian.

Supporting the in-laws. One more week.
